MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 9, 2012
The Bismarck Municipal Parking Authority met in regular session on the above date at 9:00A.M. in the second floor conference room in the City-County Building, 221 N 5th St., Bismarck, North Dakota. Chairman Jim Christianson presided.
Members present: Jim Christianson, Chuck Hale and Dina Baird
Members absent: Claire Aune Holmberg and Brian Peterson
Staff Members: Rocky Gordon, Dennis Torgerson, Jason Tomanek
Others present: Dawn Kopp, Kate Herzog, Parrel Grossman, Ken Hoff and Dale Zimmerman
MINUTES
Chairman Jim Christianson called for consideration of the minutes of the January 12, 2012 meeting.
MOTION A motion was made by Chuck Hale, seconded by Dina Baird and unanimously approved by all members present that the minutes of the January 12, 2012 meeting be approved.
REVIEW OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
MOTION A motion was made by Dina Baird, seconded by Chuck Hale and unanimously approved by all members present to approve the January financial statement.
LIFE EXPECTANCY OF PARKADE BUILDING
General discussion was held concerning the letter written by structural engineer Chris Wentz addressing the remaining useful life of the Parkade. Engineer Wentz estimated the remaining useful life at 35 to 50 years with proper maintenance
CONCERNS ABOUT ROOFTOP PARKING CONTROL AT 3RD & MAIN RAMP
Dina Baird expressed customer concerns about the visibility of the rooftop parking control light and system at the Third & Main Ramp. A general discussion was held and management was asked to look into the matter.
NIGHT AND EVENING PARKING
A general discussion was continued about night and evening parking and usage of the new discounted pricing program.
PRESENTATION BY DOWNTOWNERS
A slide presentation was made by the Downtowners about the growth of Downtown, the importance of parking both on and off street and ideas for a parking marketing program.
PARKING TASKFORCE
Commissioner Grossman asked the Parking Authority to consider appointing a member to serve on the Parking Task Force.
OTHER BUSINESS
Jim Christianson reminded members and staff about the 2 special meetings. February 16 at 1:00 PM-Consultant Selection Committee. February 23 at 3:00PM-Strategic Plarming Session.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Chairman Jim Christianson declared the Bismarck Municipal Parking Authority adjourned at 10:50 A.M. until the special meetings on February 16th and 23'd and will meet again in regular session March 8, 2012.
